SALT IN THE BLOOD
BORN TO FISH
A chance encounter with a fisherman late one evening in November 2017 led to something a lot bigger. Guided by the moonlight I had navigated my way along the harbour wall in St Ives Cornwall when I saw a fishermen unloading his evening mackerel catch. That man was 75 yr old John Witt. I quickly took a photo.
The photo went viral and somehow a photographer from Gloucestershire became the photographer for the fishermen.
I started working on personal projects for the Fishermen’s Mission. A great charity who look after the fishermen and their families when they get injured or if their boat goes down which unfortunately they frequently still do. I treat them as unpaid personal projects but count myself extremely lucky as I get unfettered access into an ancient way of life and see places that don’t exist on the tourist route.
