From small acorns, mighty oaks grow and that is what happened with our small idea for a calendar for the Fishermen's Mission, showing the hard working, dedicated fishermen of St. Ives at work. We aimed to highlight the work they do and how it is intrinsic to our industry in the U.K.
The response to the calendar has been overwhelming and every person photographed for it, took time from their precious free time to come along to the launch night last week in St. Ives, which meant a great deal. It was great to see all the fishermen again! Thanks to Porthmeor Studios for the venue.
These guys literally put their lives on the line for our fish supper and the Fishermen's Mission are there should the worst happen.
The Calendar retails at £10 and all proceeds from the sale of each calendar goes directly to the Mission and its the least we could do to help the cause in some way. The calendar is now officially on sale! If you would like to purchase a copy or know of someone who would, please use the following link to visit the Fishermen's Mission eBay shop:
If you live locally to the area, it can be purchased from the following shops, who have very kindly agreed to sell it:
In St Ives; the town centre Wharf Road Post Office, Tourist information, St Eia Cabin Newsagent, Gallery 38 and the Fishermen’s Co-operative. In Penzance; The Edge of the World Bookshop and Penlee Gallery.
Thank you again to everyone involved in making this project such a success.
