The Tilley lamp invented by John Tilley deriving from his earlier 1813 inventions (pressure lamps). In 1915 they tested kerosene to fuel the lamps and were used extensively in WW1. Tilley lamps became the generic name for paraffin (kerosene) lamps. I still use them on camping trips and they came handy on our shoot with @peregrineuk . @glen_power inspecting the dark crevices of #broadsandsbeach here.
